HILA RIEMER 

Head of Lab

Prof. Hila Riemer investigates the psychology of judgment and decision making, focusing on the influences of emotions and identity (e.g., culture, gender). In her research Riemer examines the mechanisms underlying various affective influences and their variations across identities. Research conducted in Riemer’s lab contributes to the advancement of theories considering the roles of emotions and identities in attitude formation, attitude change, and decision making; as such, it can inform the development of communication strategies as well as interventions to promote necessary societal changes and protect consumers.

 

Riemer’s work has been published in high impact journals, including Nature Human Behaviour, Psychological Reviews, Cognition and Emotion, Current Psychology, Frontiers in Psychology, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Advertising, and Plos One. It has been funded by the Israeli Science Foundation (ISF), U.S.-Israel Binational Science Foundation (BSF), and the Marie SkÅ‚odowska-Curie Actions of the European Commission.

 

Riemer is currently an Associate Professor at the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management at BGU. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a major in marketing and a minor in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Management, and a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, both from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.

 

Among her several administrative functions, Prof. Riemer has served as the BGU presidential adviser on gender equity and head of the office of gender equity, leading and managing efforts toward gender diversity and inclusion at BGU. Riemer has contributed significantly to advancing women in academia both at BGU and nationwide. She also combines her administrative experience with academic research on gender and diversity for further impact in these domains.
